The Coastal Path

Starting from Saint-Guirec beach, just a few steps from Castel Beau Site, the Sentier des Douaniers (Customs Officers' Path) stretches for 3.8 kilometers between Perros-Guirec and the port of Ploumanac'h. This section of the famous GR34 is regularly cited as one of the most beautiful hiking stretches in France. Created in 1791 to monitor smugglers, it offers spectacular panoramas of pink granite boulders sculpted by millions of years of erosion. The easy walk takes about two hours, or longer if you take the time to observe the rocks with their evocative shapes: Napoleon's Hat, the Lovers' Sentry Box, and the Mushroom. Halfway along, the Mean Ruz lighthouse—a remarkable building—is not open to the public, but it keeps watch over the coast. A little further on, hikers will find the Maison du Littoral, managed by the Conservatoire du Littoral, which offers free exhibitions on local geology and wildlife. This hike is undoubtedly the perfect invitation to discover the Pink Granite Coast in the early morning, when the light gently reveals the colorful nuances of the landscape.
